Medihoney Paste Overview

Medihoney Paste supports the effective healing of wounds and burns. Made from 100% natural Leptospermum honey, this paste is especially beneficial for chronic wounds, such as ulcers and burns, that have not responded well to basic treatments. Leptospermum honey lowers the wound’s pH, creating an optimal healing environment. Its high osmolarity helps cleanse the wound by facilitating the body’s natural debridement process, drawing fluids and dead tissue to the surface where it can be liquefied for healing.

Medihoney Hydrocolloid Paste is thin, making it ideal for challenging wounds such as tunneled or undermined areas. It is effective for treating full-thickness wounds, burns with light to moderate drainage, as well as diabetic, pressure, and venous ulcers up to Stage IV. A secondary dressing, like the Mepilex Border dressing, is needed after applying the paste to prevent infection.

How to Apply

When applying the paste, always begin this process by washing hands thoroughly. Apply gloves to cleanse and dry the wound as well as clean the skin around the wound. Use a squirt bottle to cleanse the wound if sensitive. Pat dry skin around the periwound to ensure a clean and sterile field. Assess the wound and measure field, if needed. Apply the protecting paste to the wound using a sterile cotton swab. Place a secondary dressing to protect the wound from infection.
